Today I…
Went
to an Etsy Craft Party
What a disappointment.
I’ve been looking forward to this for three weeks.
Friday night out. Luke keeps Max. I go to a party where I learn to make fun new
things. Where did it all go wrong?
Well, let’s start with the total lack of organization
regarding “checking in.” When you put on a party, you HOST it, ladies. Once I
walked in the door, I had no idea what to do or where to go. The only thing
posted was a sign asking for a $5.00 donation. I’m really glad that I only had
$4.00 because I wanted to dig it out on my way out the door.
A few of us grabbed a glass of lemonade (terrible)
and a gluten-free brownie (awful) while waiting for the party to start. Little
did we know, it already had.
Fifty people gathered in a room made for thirty and
were expected to sit at a table for ten. What about the crafts, you ask? A tiny wooden heart
to be painted and some cardstock badges. What the heck?
It gets even better…
I left in less than 30 minutes. When I got home, I
looked in my sponsored goody bag. This is what was in it: a clothespin attached
to an empty, pink, scented garbage bag and a two-pack of light bulbs. I kid you
not. (At least I got my $4.00 worth with the bulbs. Thank you, SMUD.)
This event was a disappointment all the way around. I
vented to my sister about it and she suggested I call Etsy and tell them they
are ruining their brand. Ha! If I can find a venue, I’ll be hosting my own
party next year.
